The Khatab Family has Arrived!
After months of preparation and anticipation, we are thrilled to announce that the Khatab family arrived in Calgary on Tuesday, June 21st, at 4:30 pm. As you can see in the photo, Khaled, Raghda, Mohammad, Mahmoud, Marwa and Maram were greeted at the airport by a small delegation: Samira and David Assaf, Natasha and Tommy Brubaker Garrison, Anna and Ava Greenwood-Lee, Chris and Alison Longson and Murdo and Marie Marple.
The Khatabs were relieved to find a welcoming committee, and especially one that included a translator (Samira). Although exhausted by their journey, they wanted to visit and get to know everyone. The Internal Resources Team has done a fantastic job on the house and it really looked like a home when the group arrived. The Calgarians spent a couple of hours with them at the house, sharing coffee and sweets while the Khatabs shared the story of their journey. Both Khaled and Raghda repeatedly expressed their gratitude to everyone.
The next few days will no doubt be a blur of activity and new experiences for them. We will be sending out a more complete account of the family’s journey and arrival, and an overview of what they’ve been up to during their first few days in their new home, early next week.
