Sunday at St. Laurence

Sunday mornings at St. Laurence reflect our commitment to inclusivity, intellectual curiosity, community, and deep spirituality.

Our Eucharistic service begins at 10 am and usually lasts about an hour. While the service follows a classic order of opening hymn and welcome, Bible readings and sermon, prayers, offertory hymn, followed by Eucharist and closing hymn, the liturgy and music draw upon a rich mixture of new and old. Where possible, we use inclusive language in prayers and in readings. Because the Eucharist is at the centre of our life together, during the sharing of the Eucharist the community gathers in a circle around the altar platform to receive the bread and wine.

While the service order is provided to you in a printed bulletin that you will receive when you arrive at St. Laurence, you may choose to follow the service on our overhead Sanctuary screen. Most importantly, if you are unfamiliar with the rituals and customs of the Anglican Church, we invite you to simply relax and let the congregation carry you in worship.

After the service the priest greets people at the door, and everyone is invited to come downstairs to the parish hall for coffee, tea, and a social time. After a short social time, those wishing to attend Conversations are invited to join a group of 15 – 20 people in the Sunshine room for a lively discussion about the sermon, the theme of the day, or another topic. Drop in anytime!

Children are always welcome in our worship service and are important members of our Church family. A children’s corner of books, toys, crafts, and activities is available for children to peruse at their leisure throughout the service.
